Modern cruise ships have stabilizers that reduce motion. If you're prone to motion sickness, consider booking a mid-ship cabin on a lower deck and bring remedies like Dramamine, acupressure bands, or patches.

Essentials include casual clothes, swimwear, formal attire (for dress-up nights), comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, medications, chargers, and travel documents.

Most cruise lines add daily gratuities to your onboard account automatically. You can prepay these or adjust them onboard. Tipping for exceptional service is always appreciated.

Carnival uses the Sail & Sign system, a cashless onboard credit program.  All purchases and gratuities are charged to your personal Sail & Sign account. You can open this account using a credit/debit card or by depositing cash at the terminal before boarding.

Arrive at least 2 to 3 hours before departure time. Your cruise line will give you an embarkation window—stick to that to avoid long lines.
